What is Emerald Papyrus?
As ancient Egypt's rich spiritual legacy continues to captivate and inspire many people today, it's intricate mythology, rich symbolism, and mystical belief systems have influenced various aspects of human culture and spirituality time and time again. One intriguing connection is the relationship between ancient Egypt and the Tarot. This deck aims to dive deeper into the interconnectedness of these two realms, shedding light on the shared symbolism, archetypes, and spiritual concepts bridging the gap between ancient Egypt and the Tarot.
Egypt was renowned for its spiritual practices and beliefs that permeated every aspect of daily life. The Egyptians embraced a polytheistic worldview, worshiping a vast pantheon of gods and goddesses representing various aspects of nature, human attributes, and cosmic forces. The belief in the afterlife and the soul's journey was central to their spiritual framework, as evidenced by the elaborate rituals and burial practices associated with death and rebirth. Tarot, as a divination system, has a complex and mysterious history. While its precise origins remain uncertain, it is widely believed to have roots in ancient Egypt, making it an intriguing link between the wisdom of the pharaohs and the modern practice of divination.
The Tarot is comprised of 78 cards divided into two arcana’s: the Major Arcana and the Minor Arcana. The Major Arcana embodies powerful archetypal energies, while the Minor Arcana reflects the experiences and challenges of everyday life.
In this tarot I have connected specific stone's, amulet's, talismans, symbols and archetypal female figures back to the major arcana.

The Guidebook:
The guidebook is one of my favourite parts about this offering. I have been working on the concept and design of this deck and guidebook for a solid 2 years but overall this deck has been in the works for the better part of 3 years. I initially was going to offer this book as a stand-alone book but ultimately felt compelled to add them together as a special offering for this kickstarter campaign.
The name of the guidebook is 'ORA' and will speak on two separate components. The traditional tarot and their meanings. The second will be connecting associated Egyptian signs and symbols to the Tarot and go into depth about their interconnectedness.
Why this design?
I choose a black box to resemble black stone. In many religions and spiritual belief systems, black stones are the embodiment of protection. In Egypt, the Benben stone is a black capstone of a pyramid. It was believed to have emerged from primordial waters and became the seat of the goddess Nu, whom separated the waters from the Earth and helped create life.
In religion, the Black Stone of Mecca, is considered a link between Heaven and Earth. In the Islamic faith, the black stone is associated with protection, purification and transformation.
In pop-culture, Arthur C. Clarke's book, A Space Odyssey, utilizes a black stone monolith as the catalyst which travels and terraforms barren planets towards life and triggers the process of evolution.
This is why I chose this design in particular. I believe that tarot is an ever evolving, transformative tool given to us in which it can reflect the state of our human consciousness back to us.
This deck is not merely another tarot to me, it is a divinely channeled entity that has come to transform... you.
The Artwork:
I, Yana LéVie, am the creative architect behind The Emerald Papyrus Tarot. A three year heART project that has finally come into its manifestation. The artwork is considered multimedia or in the realm of collage. Though, the spectrum to describe my work is broad, it's uniqueness is something that cannot explained. This work was channeled by something greater than myself and I believe it is reflected in its unique quality.
